Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the MyLawPoint platform (website and mobile application), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, you must not use the platform. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. Description of Services

MyLawPoint provides a technology platform that connects individuals and businesses ("Clients") with verified legal professionals ("Lawyers"). Our services include:

  • Lawyer discovery and profile browsing by specialisation, location, and ratings.
  • Real-time case tracking using CNR numbers from the eCourts Services system.
  • Phone and in-person consultation booking and management.
  • Client and lawyer dashboards for managing engagements, documents, and communications.
  • Secure payment processing for consultation fees.

MyLawPoint is a technology intermediary. We do not provide legal advice, and using the platform does not create an attorney-client relationship with MyLawPoint.

3. User Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account.
  • You must provide accurate and complete information during registration and keep it updated.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity.

4. Lawyer Profiles

Lawyers listed on MyLawPoint must hold a valid enrolment with a State Bar Council under the Advocates Act, 1961. By registering as a lawyer, you represent and warrant that:

  • Your Bar Council enrolment number and credentials are accurate and current.
  • You hold the necessary permissions to practise law in the jurisdictions indicated on your profile.
  • All information on your profile, including specialisations, experience, and fee structures, is truthful and not misleading.
  • You will comply with the Bar Council of India Rules on professional standards and ethics.

MyLawPoint verifies lawyer credentials to the extent possible but does not guarantee the quality, outcome, or suitability of legal advice provided by any lawyer.

5. Consultations & Payments

  • Consultation fees are set by individual lawyers and displayed on their profiles. MyLawPoint may charge a platform fee, which will be clearly disclosed before booking.
  • Payments are processed through third-party payment gateways. By making a payment, you agree to the payment processor's terms and conditions.
  • Cancellations and refunds are governed by our Cancellation Policy. Generally, cancellations made more than 4 hours before the scheduled consultation are eligible for a full refund. Late cancellations may incur a fee.
  • Consultation sessions are time-bound (1 hr, 1.5 hr, or 2 hr). Extensions may be arranged directly between the client and lawyer, subject to additional fees.

6. Case Tracking

The case tracking feature retrieves publicly available case status data from the eCourts Services portal using CNR numbers. MyLawPoint:

  • Does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of case data, as it depends on updates from the court systems.
  • Is not liable for any decisions made based on the case status information displayed on the platform.
  • May store case tracking history for registered users to enable features like hearing reminders and status change notifications.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the MyLawPoint platform — including the design, logo, text, graphics, software, and user interface — is the property of MyLawPoint or its licensors and is protected under the Copyright Act, 1957 and the Trade Marks Act, 1999. You may not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any platform content.
  • Use our trademarks or branding without prior written consent.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any software used in the platform.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the platform.

8. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or to facilitate illegal activity.
  • Upload false, misleading, or defamatory content.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users, including lawyers and clients.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or platform systems.
  • Manipulate reviews, ratings, or search results.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • MyLawPoint is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
  • We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components.
  • MyLawPoint shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform.
  • Our total liability for any claim related to the platform shall not exceed the amount paid by you to MyLawPoint in the 12 months preceding the claim.
  • We are not responsible for the conduct, advice, or services provided by lawyers listed on the platform. Any disputes between clients and lawyers should be resolved directly between the parties.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MyLawPoint, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the platform, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the use of the platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
